How to catch a feral cat using The Trap Man humane live catch feral cat cage trap. If possible, get the cats used to being fed at the same place and time of day. Place the The Feral Cat Trap on the ground and make certain it is stable and will not rock or tip over, place a house brick or similar weighty item on the top. Cat Trap should be checked every fifteen mins if set during the day and at least every day, by law.
Don't leave a cat in the trap for too long. Also, traps may be stolen, damaged, or set off by other animals be prepared for this, secure the feral cat trap to the floor or padlock it to something immovable. Check your cat traps regularly every 15 mins and never leave your cat trap for more than 12 hours. You may need to check the traps more regularly in hot or wet weather. If you can't check your traps often then do not set them. Be patient trapping cats may take some time. If a cat is unwilling to enter into the feral cat trap, you may want to try feeding them with small amounts of bait near the trap and in an unset trap for several days before trapping. Wire the doors to the feral cat trap open and place the food inside. Once they become accustomed to the traps they will be easier to catch. Bait using flattened out mackerel or cat food placed under the cage directly under the treadle, this will prevent the cat from taking the bait without setting off the trap. Setting (cut the security tag from the door) Place thumb on lever with the spring attached to right of cage (fig1)(cage door facing you) press firmly down this will unlock and open door. Place you left hand inside the door opening, whilst holding the door to the roof of the cage and grasp the end of the setting rod attached to the treadle, with your other hand pass the trigger rod loop through the hole in the roof so that the loop rests on the marked bar (fig 2) slide this loop forward until the very end of the setting rod is just through the open part at the base of the door, remove your left hand slowly and let the door rest on the setting bar...... The door should now be suspended by the setting bar, the treadle should be at approximately 30°
