The trap man clam Larsen is a single catch Larsen trap mostly suited to magpies, its name come from the appearance of the trap as it opens up like a clam when set.
The trap is set using split perches which the magpie lands on inside the trap, as the weight of the bird land on the perches they split and in turn trigger the cage closed.
This type of trap is particularly good for catching your decoy bird if you create a nest inside the trap using straw and broken eggs.

We were plagued with 2 magpies and 1 was attacking our pet tortoise. Enough was enough and we bought a Larsen Clam trap. We paid the extra postage to get it here quicker which it did! We set the trap up Sat evening using a decoy nest & chicken eggs (1 cracked showing yolk) and caught 1 of them by the Sunday morning. We drove 20 miles away to set it free in a country park. We would recommend this very effective Larsen Clam trap to anyone!!
